VECTOR Pilot Readiness

Experimental edge-gateway scope, prerequisites, and pilot boundaries.

VECTOR is experimental edge-gateway research for scoped laboratory telemetry pilots. TARE does not currently provide a generally available hub image or self-service device provisioning flow. Any pilot requires a written integration, security, and local-safety plan.

Experimental capability

Do not connect production instruments, safety controls, or regulated records from this guide alone. Hardware support, protocols, evidence requirements, and operator controls are established per design-partner pilot.

Hardware Anatomy

Core Processing

Research prototypes target Raspberry Pi-compatible hardware and containerized services. Exact hardware, local buffering, signing, and recovery behavior are pilot-specific.

Edge Connectivity

Candidate transports include serial, Ethernet, Bluetooth LE, and MQTT. A listed transport is not a supported instrument driver or approval to connect a device.

Pilot intake

  1. Document the instrument, protocol, data classification, sampling rate, and operational owner.
  2. Define a read-only capture path, network boundary, credential rotation, and loss-of-connectivity behavior.
  3. Validate payload schema, timestamp quality, signatures, replay handling, and tenant routing in a non-production environment.
  4. Record site EHS approval, operator training, rollback steps, and the evidence required before any production use.
