Creating Inventory Records
Create inventory items with locations, quantities, SDS links, and audit-safe changes.
Inventory records are easiest to support when location, unit, quantity, lot, and SDS context are entered before the item is used in downstream work.
- Create or confirm the storage location in Inventory > Locations.
- Open Inventory and choose Add Item.
- Enter a clear item name, category, unit, starting quantity, container status, and lot identifier when available.
- Attach SDS or supporting files only through the upload flow so the checksum and verification state are recorded.
- Use move, adjust quantity, or dispose actions for changes after creation. Avoid editing history into notes.
Good first record
Name, category, storage location, quantity, unit, lot, container state, hazard notes, and SDS attachment are enough for the supported beta inventory flow.
Validation failures
If a create or import action fails, fix the highlighted field and retry. Blank units, malformed quantities, foreign locations, and invalid lot identifiers are rejected before inventory mutation.
