AI-Native LabOS Basics

Understand the shared dashboard shell, page-aware Ask TARE, voice controls, and confirmation model.

TARE is designed to feel like one operating system for the lab, not a pile of disconnected modules. Every dashboard page now exposes consistent route context, breadcrumbs, primary actions, Ask TARE affordances, and voice prompts.

Ask TARE is page-aware

The assistant understands whether you are viewing inventory, locations, scan intake, notebook, or settings and suggests actions for that surface.

Voice remains opt-in

Enable voice-first LabOS in Preferences. TARE does not surprise-start microphone listening before permission and explicit opt-in.

Core operating surfaces

  1. Dashboard Home: command-center overview, active context, hazards, and quick action state.
  2. Inventory: Add Item, Scan Intake, Import, Locations, and Reconcile entry points.
  3. Locations: hierarchy, containment, assigned-item counts, deletion blockers, and next-step guidance.
  4. Scan Intake: photo, video, and manual intake with retryable evidence finalization.
  5. Notebook: AI-native workspace for entries, data lake references, templates, and audit-safe records.

Safety model

Voice and AI can help draft, navigate, and fill forms, but high-risk mutations such as deletion, inventory adjustment, location moves, scan finalization, custody, and signatures require explicit confirmation.
